A letter from the Creator (and Subject!) Herself
Hello, my name is Dani K and I am a writer, mixed media artist, organizer, transitional, and self-proclaimed Wyrdo. I am also the subject of this strange project. Yup, I chose to expose myself! Well, expose meaning I'm sharing my advice, experiences, and goals with you - more of a metaphoric exposure. As you read this page, and other pages of this site, I hope you will be able to relate, utilize, share, and laugh at all the funny, creative, and at times awkward experiences I share as I delve deep into this strange (and by no means scientific) social experiment. Read on and learn what the heck it all means. Or if you had enough, there's merch too!
It starts with an explanation - What does ‘Wyrd’ Mean?

The idea came to me when I turned 40. I found myself living in a crap-apartment, in the boring suburbs, overweight, with huge debt from student loans, a career that consumes most of my time, an 11 year-old child to raise, and had recently separated from my husband of whom I had been with for 20 years.

It was a sh*t time. My life was in full chaos.
​
But as they say, “when one door shuts….blah blah…”
​
I wanted to rebel, mix things up in a big way, I didn't want normal to be my fate. I wanted to change my future and get weird!
​
But it's scary to be different all the time. It's lonely. I asked myself, “Could I ever be successful, on my own terms? Or do I have to fall in with the crowd and play it safe in order to be happy?”
​
And so Project Wyrd was born. I found the term "wyrd" which meant fate -as per above def- and I thought it was the perfect connection for being unique as well knowing and deciding your own future. Through this project, I am going to test and see that if I put myself out there in my own way, will the universe reward me?
Well, even if it doesn't, forget the universe, I'm doing it anyway.
